Sarah
Sanctuaries at Sea Ranger
Sarah started volunteering with us as a surveyor in 2011, quickly becoming the coordinator and report writer for one of SRT’s quarterly north coast boat-based survey transects. Sarah took on her official role as Sanctuaries at Sea Ranger with SRT in 2019. During this year Sarah coordinated a research project and wrote a report for publication by Natural England.
Among other roles, Sarah continues to coordinate and write reports for Marine Life and Human Activity Photo Identification Project boat-based surveys as well as coordinating SRT’s quarterly seal census, working alongside a huge network of dedicated volunteer surveyors. In 2023 Sarah wrote a second report published by Natural England, summarising eleven years of SRT boat-based data on other species (everything except seals and birds).
Sarah also loves to be involved in SRT’s core photo ID work; it can be quite addictive! Sarah has always been passionate about the ocean and protecting it and believes that you can achieve almost anything when you put your mind to it.
